ZNEF was founded in the 70’s, as the national charitable support arm of Zeta to bring scholarships and opportunity to women nation-wide. In 2023, we refreshed that brand and ushered them into a new era of impact for decades to come.

Rebranding 50 years of Legacy.
The original ZNEF mark was iconic to the brand, but struggled in a lot of ways from credibility to scalability to legibility. The board was ready to bring ZNEF into the modern age with a rebrand.
With any rebrand, our goal isn’t to start over. It’s to build upwards. Our process is designed on a 3 part framework of discovery, distillation, and design.
Our Rebranding Process

Discover
Through weeks of discovery calls and analysis, we uncovered the roots behind ZNEF and what drove the brand forward for decades. More importantly, we uncovered what wasn’t working, and where the brand needed to go.

Distill
Fueled by our discovery and analysis, we distilled out the iconic elements that hold deep roots in the in the 50 years of the foundation and in the Zeta sorority itself. The Zeta dove, the book, the torch, and the graduation hat were uncovered as the core 4 iconic elements that have remained with the brand for decades.

Design
We took our distilled elements and functional needs for the new brand, and got to work. We began exploring marks that brought together the iconic elements of ZNEF with a vision for the future of the organization, eventually landing on the future mark for ZNEF.
Drafting
Welcome to the new ZNEF
Based on the iconic graduation hat, this custom tailored mark ushers in a new era for the Zeta National Educational Foundation. The hat logo, crafted from the ZNEF letters, modernizes the brand and carries in decades of history with the hat from the original logo. The Astoria serif typeface sustains the maturity of the original brand, while gracefully breathing in an updated credibility.
